Alex Lewis serves a dual role at Mendonoma Health Alliance as a full-time Community Health Worker and Peer Recovery Coordinator. Originally from Central California, Alex discovered a passion for community service as a teenager, volunteering with the City of Grover Beach Parks and Recreation Department to support local events. He later attended Cuesta College, where he studied Sociology and Broadcasting.

Since joining Mendonoma Health Alliance in November 2024, Alex has brought both personal insight and professional dedication to his work. As a Community Health Worker, he helps connect individuals with vital health and social services, providing support in navigating the healthcare system, and empowering community members to take charge of their well-being. In his role as Peer Recovery Coordinator, Alex draws from his own recovery journey to support others, encourage peer-to-peer connection, and to reduce stigma around substance use. He has helped to both centralize and increase recovery resources in our service area by fostering collaboration between organizations, chairing recovery meetings and hosting safe, sober events where individuals in recovery can build community and have fun together.

Alex is passionate about helping people overcome barriers and rediscover their potential. His early community involvement laid the foundation for a career focused on service, connection, and healing. As a person in recovery, he is committed to creating opportunities for others to experience the same hope and transformation.

When he’s not working, Alex enjoys flying drones, doing home improvement projects and relaxing with his partner and their dog, Cassie.
