I became addicted to opioids after having spinal surgery for a back injury. I started taking medication for the pain, and was addicted to opioids for a year and a half as a result.

I thought stopping the drugs would be easy once I decided I was going to, but I was having physical reactions when I wasn’t getting the drugs. It was much harder to quit than I thought. While I was able to stop using on my own, I know that for others it’s not as easy.

We need to support people who are suffering from addiction.
